Heavenly vanilla fragrance!

Super-easy plant blooms the first year and tolerates heat, humidity, and even drought!
So fragrant, colorful, and carefree! A magnet for butterflies, Cinderella is one of the easiest, most adaptable plants you will ever grow. Just toss the seeds into the garden and stand back! Vanilla-scented flowerheads 2 inches across arise among the long, lush leaves all summer long (and often right into fall!), crowding atop very free-blooming plants 2 to 4 feet high and 2 feet wide. Every sunny garden deserves this trouble-free, long-blooming perennial!

If you can bear to cut them, the blooms are long-lasting in fresh and dried bouquets. This native American plant loves full sun and thrives in heat, humidity, and even drought--yet is also quite winter-hardy and permanent. All it asks is well-drained soil (moist or damp soils are just fine!) and plenty of sun. What could be simpler--or more lovely--in the sunny garden or natural landscape? And if you have more boggy soil than you'd like -- or you just want to create a spectacular two-tone planting -- combine Cinderella with its cousin A. turberosa!

Cinderella is a gift your garden will treasure for years. Its heavy nectar production attracts all kinds of good bugs to the garden (the kind that feast on destructive predators!), and the fragrance is delightful. Best of all, this perennial is super-easy. You will love it! Zones 3-8. Pkt is 30 seeds.

I put the seeds in the ground 3 weeks ago and they already look like they could take on a Kansas wind. While some seeds look wimpy, these plants look sturdy and sustainable.
OMG Beautiful Flowers & A Whole Lotta Monarch Caterpillars
Kyra from MD wrote (February 13, 2012):
the flowers were fragrant and beautiful, and the caterpillars were also beautiful. They changed instars and pupated in the house and in the garden. They bloomed for quite a long time.
