Butterfly Amaryllis
One of the finest houseplants we've ever seen!
Resembling orchids, these exotic blooms are a green-tinged white with maroon striping, 5 1/2 inches high and 3 1/2 inches wide, and flared like a tropical butterfly. In early spring, two to three blooms arise on each 2-foot stem above glossy evergreen foliage. Magnificent!
Papilio was discovered in Brazil in the 1960's, and introduced several years later. It has recently become very difficult to find in the wild, and is rumored to be near extinction. What luck that it lives on in the homes and gardens of dedicated Amaryllis lovers everywhere!
