Resistant to just about every cabbage disease and pest!

So gigantic we classify it as a Whopper!
88 days. This over-achiever reaches a tremendous size (not to mention weight!) without sacrificing an iota of sweet, mild flavor. The huge heads measure up to 16 inches in diameter and weigh a staggering 15 pounds, with a small core and plenty of rich, tender leaves tightly packed within! The pale-green wrappers protect the succculent leaves within, making Megaton Hybrid one of the tastiest as well as the largest you can find anywhere!

Yields are very heavy, too, thanks to great disease resistance. Megaton Hybrid resists Fusarium Yellows, Tip Burn, Ring Spot, and Split. It holds longer in the garden than most, and is terrific for both spring and fall crops. If you like your cabbage big and tasty -- VERY big and VERY tasty -- Megaton Hybrid is the one to grow!

Cabbage is a cool-season crop, sown in early spring for early-summer harvest or in mid- to late summer for fall harvest. Where winters are mild, it can be sown nearly year-round, except during the hot summer months. Start indoors or direct-sow, spacing plants 12 inches apart for maximum harvest. Before planting, prepare the soil well with fertilizer, and add a dose of ammonium nitrate about a month into the growth season. Harvest the heads when they are firm and brightly colored. Plants may form smaller side-heads after the main head is harvested. Pkt is 50 seeds.

Megaton is My Cabbage
Sharon Watson from FL wrote (November 07, 2011):
It's difficult to grow a good cabbage in Florida, but Megaton has allowed me to do just that for all my friends and family. I start in November and grow Megaton until April. Resistant to most insects, it needs little care. Even my neighbor who had never grown cabbage is hooked on Megaton. It's great for slaw and cooking with a mild. crisp flavor. We love it!!
