Carex 'Fresh Look'
Brown catkins arise in spring, perfect for fresh or dried bouquets.
The catkins arise the second year from seed, but even in its first year, the foliage is lush and glossy, reaching 3 to 4 feet high and spreading 5 feet wide. No grass is easier for creating a manageable but very full hedge. Best in full sun in all but the hottest part of its hardiness range, it becomes quite heat- and drought-tolerant once mature, and puts up with a wide range of soils. Don't buy expensive ornamental grasses in nursery pots -- grow your own for just pennies, and landscape your entire property! Pkt is 20 seeds.
