Carrots are the perfect "designing" vegetable. Their deep green tops are vase-shaped and elegant, and their long roots occupy so little space. If you've ever thought of designing a parterre or using carrots in a patterned planting, this seed tape is the way to do it elegantly and accurately! Of course, it also works well for plain old rows in the vegetable patch, and it's great for containers! You literally lay the tape down on top of the soil where you want the plants to grow, cutting it to fit the space and arranging it in any pattern you like. Then rake or sprinkle about a half inch of soil on top of the tapes and water them in well. That's it -- in a few weeks you'll see evenly-spaced, healthy green shoots that need no thinning!

In this set of three 5-foot-long tapes, you will find the seeds of 3 new and exciting varieties of carrot. They are the very best you can grow, and they're yours for a terrific value. Here's a bit more about each variety:

Romance - 75 days. Super-quick and utterly delicious, this Nantes type offers straight, blunt-ended dark orange carrots with almost no core and plenty of crisp, crunchy texture. Harvest when the roots are about 6 inches long for best flavor, and enjoy the lush, leafy green tops too!

Nantes - 62 days. Pushing its deep orange shoulders up to the surface days and even weeks sooner than most others, Nantes is an exceptionally sweet variety just made for slicing! The 6- to 7-inch roots are firm, straight, and not tapered, with inconspicuous cores and plenty of tender, crisp, and ultra-sweet flavor in every bite.

Atomic Red - 75 days. Full of cancer-fighting Lycopene, these carrots look as good as they taste! Super-nutritious and made for cooking, Atomic Red offers tapered roots 8 to 11 inches long. They are dull pink until you cook them -- then they turn brilliant scarlet!

You'll finish your planting in seconds and enjoy the delicious results for weeks or even months (with successive plantings) with these seed tapes! Give it a try this season, but beware: it's highly addictive, and next year you will want to start your whole garden this way! Three 5-foot tapes, for a total of 15 feet.
