From soothing tea to groundcover!
Both German and Roman chamomile make a delicious soothing tea, but Roman chamomile is also used as an unusual fragrant, evergreen groundcover! This apple-scented perennial forms a thick, 6" mat of bright green, finely cut leaves, topped in midsummer with tiny white and yellow daisy-like flowers. German chamomile (false sweet chamomile) is more upright than Roman, with a flavor and fragrance similar to pineapple. Both types of chamomile attract bees, butterflies, and birds, and are self-sowing, so you'll have more next year!
