This darling shrub is a must plant in the sunny garden. Tiny cotton candy pink bells speckle this perennial in spring and by September they've become plump berries. Its fruits are ruby-red with a distinctive tart flavor and bear a strawberry-like fragrance. The bright oval fruits shine like jewels against its dark green foliage and add color and beauty to the landscape. Its fruits are tasty fresh as well as in jellies, jams and pies while its leaves are a great in teas.

Prefers well drained soil and and plenty of sunlight. The bush is self-pollinating and is capable of reaching 15 feet in warmer climates, but will remain relatively short in cooler climes staying about 6 to 8 ft tall. It grows well in containers and indoors as long as there is good air circulation and some mild humidity.
