Clivia Variegata
Large, rich orange blooms in late winter and spring!
Once available only to wealthy plant collectors, Clivia (Kaffir Lily) is a South African tropical that has been described as "the perfect houseplant." A dedicated breeder, Joe Solomone, dedicated many years to breeding a reliable Clivia from seed, making it affordable to the rest of us! This splendid variegated Clivia comes from one of the famous Solomone hybrids.
From the moment these seeds sprout, you can detect the bold stripes on each tiny leaf. And despite being so difficult to obtain, the plant is quite easy to grow, enjoying a sunny spot in the window or other brightly-lighted area. It takes about 4 to 5 years to begin blooming, but then blossoms reliably every summer over a very long life.
The plant reaches 18 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, with big 2-inch blooms of clear orange. It actually performs better when pot-bound, so sow it where you want it to grow and get ready for a long-lived and lovely indoor companion!
Because there is a slight (less than 10%) chance that variegation will not occur, we are giving you 2 seeds instead of just one. Consider the extra our gift, and enjoy! Pkt is 2 seeds.
