Coleus Versa Watermelon

'Watermelon' begins spring with bright red leaves edged in green. As the warm weather of summer arrives, the red turns a deep rosy-pink, and a tiny yellow margin opens up between the pink and the green, for a refreshing tricolored look! This plant reaches 22 to 24 inches high and spreads up to 24 inches wide. As with all Coleus, it makes a splendid houseplant as well as an outdoor choice, and is adaptable to garden or container. What a great choice for a combination planting, its red tones adding much-needed spring color to the display, while its pink and yellow summer tones are lighter and brighter, like the season itself!

'Watermelon' will eventually flower, but the bloomstalks can be pinched off at once to avoid detracting from the beauty of the foliage. (They make good filler in large bouquets.) Expect it to continue its vigorous, healthy growth all summer and until the first hard frost of fall. It looks great year-round indoors, whether set in a sunny window or low-light position.
