Stringless and very heavy-bearing over a long season

Tastes as good as it looks -- succulent and mouth-watering gourmet flavor!
55 days from direct-sowing. The most exciting new gourmet bean of the season is this dramatic electric purple variety from France! Each long, slender pod is less than inch in diameter, yet is packed with succulent texture and delectable flavor. Certain to be the most exciting thing on the plate, Velour deserves top billing in your garden!

These straight, slender pods reach 5 to 6 inches long, beautifully tapered and packed with nutritious seeds. The color is absolutely shocking -- a rich royal purple so bright you expect it to glow! But the texture and flavor are even better: succulent, rich, and delicious!

Velour is a bush-habit plant, very heavy-bearing over a long season. The plant itself is compact, yet it sets plenty of scrumptious beans. As you might expect, picking the beans promptly is the guarantee of the freshest, most tender pods. Steam or sauté them lightly, or even freeze them for later use. They stand up well to storage!

Velour is absolutely stringless. The plant is resistant to CBM virus and halo blight, and grows vigorously from direct-sowing in spring when the soil has warmed. Be sure to plow the plant under the soil once the harvest has finished; as a legume, it is a valuable source of nutrition for your soil. You simply can't go wrong with this exciting new French Bean! Order early! Pkt is 2 oz (150 seeds).

Plant this bean!
Adam from SC wrote (April 30, 2012):
This is the best bush bean I have ever planted! Heavy producer right up until the first frost. This bean just kept producing the more I picked. Great cooked, grilled, and awesome when canned. Last season I had problems with my blue lakes, but not with these beauties. I am hooked for life.
Great little purple beans.

I loved these little purple beans. They are easy to grow and produce tons of beans. They are great raw and make a colorful addition to a vegetable platter. These beans turn a rich dark green when cooked, but retain their great rich flavor. The only problem I had is the deer love them as much as I do. This year I will plant enough for the deer too.

I bought this bean for it's purple color and it was wonderful. The beans were very tender with great flavor, good raw or cooked. They looked beautiful on a raw veggie platter. When steamed they turned a deep green. They were my favorite bean and I will add them to my planting list again this year.
