Gold Standard Hosta Plant
Just gets better and more beautiful with every passing year!
These beautifully veined, cupped leaves arise profusely on symmetrical, well-shaped plants 18 to 24 inches tall, 30 to 36 inches wide. A bold golden hue edged in deep green, they are eye-catching from across the garden, and make a nice ribbon of color through the border, a bright accent plant anywhere you've got 3 feet of garden space, and a lovely large container specimen!
Gold Standard's beauty increases with each passing year, particularly the crisp veining that scores each leaf. As the foliage becomes more heavily textured, it assumes a quilted look you'll love! This is a long-lived, very adaptable plant, certain to become a permanent part of your landscape.
In early summer, pale lavender blooms arise on 2-foot stems from the center of this plant, but they aren't too much to write home about and may be snipped away if you feel they detract from the gorgeous foliage.
Best in at least 1/4 sun to bring out the gold hues in the foliage, Gold Standard is a delight! Space plants 36 inches apart in well-drained, enriched soil, and keep them well-watered, particularly the first year, when they are getting established in their new home. Indifferent to heat, humidity, and cold, this is a very vigorous and easy to care for Hosta! Zones 3-8.
