Plant Patent # 21,758.

Part of the Hardy Jewel™ series, 'Ruby Frost' was bred for its combination of rock-solid performance, exceptional hardiness, and jewel-toned blooms! The name was chosen by the readers of Birds & Blooms Magazine, who thought the white picotee around the ruby-red petals resembled a ring of frost.

This is a color breakthrough for Coreopsis, boasting a rich ruby tone that surpasses all previous reds, which tend towards cherry or chocolate rather than true, deep red. The frosty white picotee and yellow-ringed centers spice up the blooms for an unforgettable composition!

Butterflies flock to these blooms, creating an idyllic vision of the prairie right in your garden! The blooms are followed by silky seedheads that birds (particularly goldfinch) love to snack on!

Coreopsis is a trouble-free native. Once it becomes established it displays resistance to a variety of adverse conditions, including heat and drought. This makes it exceptionally healthy and maintenance-free in the South. Even insect pests tend to pass over 'Ruby Frost'! Plant it in any sunny, well-drained spot: it will thrive even in poor and/or dry soils! Zones 6 to 10.
