Heirloom Vegetable Garden Combination Annual Plants
Modern varieties can't compare to the rich, full flavor of these heirlooms!
In this collection you receive 2 plants each of the following 3 varieties:
Cherokee Purple Tomato - Perhaps the best-known of all the heirloom tomato varieties, Cherokee Purple is thought to have originated in Tennessee (near the heart of the Cherokee Nation) more than a century ago. It is indeterminate, meaning that it continues to grow and produce all season long, so it will need to be caged or otherwise supported to hold up its huge, ridged 16-ounce fruits of deep red to purple. It stands up to leafspot, for healthier foliage. The flavor is incredible and the production is vigorous. You will fall in love with this tomato and grow it every year, as thousands of other home gardeners do!
California Wonder Bell Pepper - This big, blocky, super-flavorful bell changed the way Americans ate peppers. It was the one that the Dust Bowl migrants of the 1930's picked in the fields when they loaded up the Model T and moved west. And because it was thicker-walled and stronger than previous varieties, California Wonder was easier to ship and held up longer after picking, making it available to folks who lived far from its growing fields. Blocky, thick-walled, and super sweet, these extra-large bells ripen from green to red on sturdy 28- to 30-inch plants. The fruit is 4 inches tall and wide, with a mild bite and crisp texture. Resistant to TMV.
Black Beauty Eggplant - A classic variety renowned for its terrific adaptation to different climates and its heavy yields, Black Beauty sets up to 12 fruits on every 21- to 30-inch plant. Stake the plant to support its bounty of large, glossy, teardrop-shaped purple-black fruits. A favorite for decades!
