Longer to bloom and quicker to spread than other fancy-flowered Impatiens.

6 Bright Colors
Simply the best fancy-flowered Impatiens we have ever grown, 'Athena' covers the shade garden or container quickly and beautifully! Containing 6 colors (including two bicolors), this low-growing, compact Impatiens is a better spreader and bigger bloomer than others. And the results are lovely!

The flowers have a rosebud shape, very elegant in bud as well as bloom, and open to bright shades of appleblossom, purple, orange, red, orange-and-white, and red-and-white. They begin a bit earlier than most other Impatiens, fully flowering by the time summer starts, and prepared to continue well into autumn. Semi-double and very long-lasting, they are truly beautiful!

The habit of this low-growing, compact plant is attractive too. The leaves are dark green and very lush, and the plant spreads vigorously, scrambling across bare soil fast to show off even more blooms. Every garden needs a hardworking ground cover for shade, and 'Athena' should be your first choice! Expect it to reach 12 to 24 inches high and spread 18 to 24 inches wide. Pkt is 20 seeds.

Impatiens and Begonias
Tom_N_ Texas from TX wrote (October 23, 2011):
I live in the Dallas, Texas area. I have an area of full shade in which I put 12 hanging basket on a fence (reserved for impatiens and Begonias). Earlier this year ,I planted these pots. Then the drought started! Needless to say these plants did not survive (70+ days of over 100 degrees) and very little rain. My advice; don't go overboard, even with well watered shade plants, if you are in a hot area!!
