Japanese Plum Yew
Deer leave it alone, insects don't trouble it, and it tolerates heat, humidity, and drought!
The new foliage is chartreuse on this upright, slender tree, turning to darker green as the temperatures warm. Needle-like and glossy, it really stands out handsomely. Left alone by pests and diseases, this tree always looks its best, even in heat, humidity, and (once established) drought. Few trees can match its easy appeal.
Hardy to -20 degrees F, it needs no pruning, adding about 6 inches of growth each year. This is a good selection for formal settings, but it is also content in the informal border or casual accent planting. Highly recommended for its compact size, attractive foliage, and ease of culture. Zones 6-9.
