Laurus nobilis Emerald Wave®
Hardy in zones 8-11, and happily overwinters indoors farther north!
When planted in garden soil where it is hardy, Sweet Bay Laurel can eventually reach 35 feet tall, but it is a very slow grower, and in containers will stay much smaller. An evergreen, it looks and smells fabulous year-round, and its fresh emerald-green spring foliage is magnificent. You'll want to place this shrub where you can enjoy its rich aroma and lovely presence every day. As it grows, it also makes a wonderful windbreak and privacy planting for the garden!
Native to the Mediterranean, Sweet Bay is a warm-weather shrub, but can easily be grown far north of its hardiness range by bringing it indoors (or to a frost-free location) for winter. Long-lived, unappetizing to nibbling deer and rabbits, and very low maintenance, it is a must-have for cooks and gardeners alike! Zones 8-11.
