Lettuce Majesty
Crisp, succulent, and without a hint of bitterness, this is a delectable lolla rossa!
These loose-leaf heads are about 6 to 8 inches high and 8 to 10 inches wide, with tightly-curled leaves of brilliant cerise-red. They are crisp and succulent, without a hint of bitterness, and have great staying power in the garden.
Majesty is superb for kitchen gardens, parterres, and containers of all type -- not to mention the annual flower bed and other accent areas in the ornamental garden! It is a cut-and-come-again variety, so you pick just what you need at the moment, and the plant obligingly grows new leaves to replace the old.
And these seeds have terrific germination rates, so you'll get far more plants from every packet of Majesty than from other, older varieties. All around, this is a top-notch performer, with unbeatable plate (and curb!) appeal as well as vigorous growth and superb flavor. You can't go wrong with Majesty!
Lettuce thrives in cold weather and can be sown directly into the garden, starting in early spring. For an even earlier harvest, sow indoors; the seedlings don't mind transplanting. If a fall crop is desired, begin in late summer. Grow in single rows, plants spaced 18 inches apart, or in containers. Pkt is 1000 seeds.
