Male Pollinator Kiwi Plant
This sun-loving vine is hardy through zone 11!
Kiwi Fruit matures in autumn, setting egg-shaped 2- to 3-ounce fruits. This is a male pollinator, so it will not set fruit, but will pollinate females, including Hardy Red Kiwi plants.
This male pollinator is a vining plant that thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Give it something to climb, for it can reach 15 to 20 feet high. Trellises, openwork fences (such as chain-link), walls, and other garden structures are ideal for Kiwi to climb or thread through. Very low maintenance and long-lived!
The flavor of kiwi has been described as a combination of pineapple and strawberry, with a fresh, almost citrus-y tang and a slight crunch from the seeds. If you haven't tasted a homegrown Kiwi, you are in for a treat! Hardy in zones 4-11.
