Medallion Flower Melanie
The dark purple stems really stand out in the vase!
Other Melampodiums offer hundreds of blooms from spring into fall, but none matches Melanie for flower size, number, or length of bloomability. This powerhouse begins in late spring and doesn't quit until the cold weather of mid-fall is upon it! Measuring 1 to 1 1/2 inches wide and packed with golden-yellow petals, these daisies appear on thick, dark purple stems that stand out nicely after cutting. A fully-blooming container of Melanie is a delightful sight for 5 months or more, and a large planting in the annual bed is a joy!
Medallion Flower is a native North American plant, naturally resistant to pests and diseases, and Melanie improves this adaptability with good tolerance of heat, humidity, and drought. The blooms even self-clean, dropping from their stems as they pass so you don't have to deadhead. Truly a self-sufficient plant, all you add is sunshine, soil, and water!
Start the seeds indoors at 68 to 82 degrees F. They sprout readily, and are ready to transplant in just 6 to 9 weeks. Easy-peasy! Packet is 15 seeds.
