Mexican Flame Vine
Fast-growing and easy, this sun-loving vine is pest-free and a magnet for butterflies, bees, and birds.
Reaching up to 10 feet long, this vine cascades over walls, out of hanging baskets and windowboxes, and along fences. It thrives in full sun to very light shade, and once established in your garden, doesn't mind a little drought. It loves hot, humid summers, flowering continuously!
Bees, butterflies, and birds are all drawn to this vine. Bees and butterflies arrive all summer, sipping nectar from the frilly centers of the blooms, while songbirds feast on the dried seeds inside the huge central cone all autumn and into winter. Consider siting this vine near the birdfeeder or birdbath for nonstop visitors!
Mexican Flame Vine never gets out of hand or becomes invasive. The evergreen foliage is arrowhead-shaped, dark green, and quite attractive, with serrated edges and a very lush look. Even out of bloom, this is a beautiful vine!
Native to North America, this vine resists most pests and diseases, and is very adaptable. Consider it a low maintenance, ultra-colorful addition to the "vertical garden"! Perennial in zones 9-10.
