Monarda 'Fireball' PP#14,235
Free of powdery mildew, well-branched, and covered in bright blooms!
Over a long summer season, masses of round, "fuzzy" blooms just keep coming. They make good cuts, but are also attractive on the plant, calling every bee and butterfly in the neighborhood to come feast. Unlike full-sized Monardas, which can become rangy and sprawling, this neat dwarf always keeps itself tidy and neat, with good branching for even more flowering stems! Just 12 to 20 inches high and 2 feet wide, it is an excellent choice for medium and large containers as well as the front to middle of the sunny border.
Very easy to grow, this plant thrives in moist to wet soils with good drainage. It prefers full sun, but will bloom well in light shade. The foliage is fragrant as well as the blooms, and is quite lush on compact plants. Enjoy this low-maintenance, long-blooming treasure! Zones 4-8.
