Moody Blues Dark Blue Speedwell
Compact yet vigorous, these tidy plants don't mind a good cut!
This Speedwell is the most exquisite blue in the Moody Blues series, a title that was not easy to achieve! Bred by NovaFlora®, 'Dark Blue' boasts spires of blooms arising on a small, well-branched plant over a long season: The gorgeous bloom wands share their sweet, subtle fragrance from late spring to early fall! These tidy plants are compact yet vigorous, and they don't mind a good cut--in fact, cutting will only prolong the bloom show! Great as a cutflower, container specimen, or source of front-of-the-border color, this versatile cultivar is a real treasure!
This deep blue Speedwell is one of the most dependable sources of color in the garden, blooming from late spring, going strong all summer, and even extending into fall! These ultra-dependable flower wands require no vernalization to bloom, which means that they will be beautiful the first year you plant them, and they will bloom like clockwork every year, no matter how mild your winters are!
Plant Veronica in a sunny, well-drained spot. Prepare the planting hole with some compost, then after planting add another thin layer of compost and lastly some mulch. In the right conditions this Speedwell will reward you with an impressive bloom show, sending spires of intensely blue blooms rising up every year in a towering display. Deadhead the bloom wands to extend the season, and divide up clumps every 3 or 4 years to keep them from getting too crowded. Zones 6 to 9.
