Organic Lettuce Pirat
Tender, sweet, and utterly delicious!
The rounded, well-packed heads reach anywhere from 6 to 10 inches high and wide, well-marked with bright red above the pale green. The heart is tender, compact, and blanched. Pirat comes by its good looks and superb flavor naturally: its ancestor is the old French favorite, Marvel of the Four Seasons, beloved since Victorian times.
Ideal for spring or fall crops, this lettuce grows best in enriched, well-drained soil that is loamy to sandy. Give it full sun in cool climates, a bit of afternoon shade in warmer areas. It tastes as good as it looks -- and that's saying quite a lot! Pkt is 1/32 oz.
