Ornamental Kale White Crane
Perfect in spring or fall!
Of course, gardeners have always known that veggies can be as attractive as flowering ornamentals, but White Crane and its cousin Sunset take this beauty to a whole new level! The perfectly-formed rosettes have dark green outer leaves, buttery-cream inner leaves, and a soft pink center. Held atop thick, sturdy stems, they are very long-lasting in the garden or vase. And talk about showy! Plant them in the cutting garden or even the veggie patch, then bring their distinctive blooms indoors to enjoy up close!
White Crane reaches 2 feet tall and about 8 inches wide. It is a cool-season crop, equally suited for spring or fall. To grow larger "flowers," keep the lower leaves of the young plants trimeed, and feed generously until the heads begin to show their colors. Stake or otherwise support the heavy stems as they grow taller. Pkt is 25 seeds.
