Osteospermum Avalanche
This Disease-resistant Beauty Flowers for 5 Months!
Avalanche is the most stunning Osteospermum yet, boasting big white daisies with coppery reverses. Very long-blooming and disease-resistant, this sun-lover will flower from mid-spring through summer, tolerating drought and other environmental stresses beautifully.
Avalanche is just 8 to 12 inches high (in bloom) and 10 to 15 inches wide, with a ground-hugging mat of dark green, nearly succulent foliage that stays evergreen in warm climates. The daisies are huge, with darker centers and pure white petals. And when they close up at night, their copper accents cast a metallic sheen that is quite distinctive!
Native to South African, Osteospermum is commonly known as Sun Daisy. It makes a splendid cutflower, and looks as good in containers as it does in the garden. Avalanche is a reselection of an old European introduction, sterile so that it devotes all its energy to setting new flowers. You will love the impact it makes in your sunny garden or on the patio!
