Everything about this plant makes it essential for your garden. The blooms -- an inch long and wide, tube-shaped, brilliant magenta-rose, and irresistible to butterflies and hummingbirds -- begin in late spring and rebloom very heavily until frost nips them back. The foliage remains evergreen right through the worst winter weather. And the plant itself tolerates drought, making it very easy-care once established in your garden!
Developed by Bruce Meters and named for the amphitheatre in Denver, this native perennial is absolutely unstoppable. The plant reaches just a foot high and slightly wider in sun to light shade, but it works as hard as any to keep those brilliant blossoms coming. Cut it back after the first heavy flowering to encourage even quicker, heavier rebloom. You won't be disappointed!
