Candy-striped blooms, beautifully ruffled, decorate this large, robust climbing plant all summer long! A reblooming Clematis with masses of color and a very vigorous habit, Pink Mink is the perfect complement to climbing roses, and looks great threaded through a fence or twining up a pergola.
These flowers are bright candy-pink with a broad stripe of magenta running down the center of each petal. The edges are lightly crimped and just a bit curled-back at the edges creating a rounded, full look. So stunning! They begin in early summer with a huge flush that lasts for many weeks. Then, all season long, new flowers open randomly on the plant, delighting you with their persistence.
Pink Mink reaches 9 to 10 feet long and about 6 feet wide. This is not a petite Clematis for containers, but a gloriously large, well-branched, vigorous climber that will blanket fences and trellises, filling the garden with bold color. It is Pruning Group III, which means it blooms on new wood (hence the rebloom all season long, as the plant continues to grow), and needs pruning in late winter. Aside from that, however, this is quite a low-maintenance plant. Like all Clematis, it takes a season or two to find its feet, then takes off and never looks back!
Pink Mink was bred by Polish plantsman Szczepan Marczynski, who is responsible for many spectacular Clematis varieties. It has already received awards in Europe, and is now ready for its American debut! It is a Proven Winners® ColorChoice® plant chosen for its exceptional performance in trial gardens the world over, and of course for its unique and lovely blooms!
Give Pink Mink™ full sunshine in all but the hottest climates, mulch it in deeply to keep the soil temperature as uniform as possible, and get ready for a long life of gorgeous pink-on-pink beauty! Zones 4-9.
