The rounded blooms are Irresistible to butterflies, standing out delightfully against attractive olive-green foliage. They last for weeks in mid- to late spring, and when they are past the attractive dark green foliage stays fresh int summer. Then in autumn, the leathery leaves turn rich shades of red, maroon, and purple.
This variety sets no fruit, concentrating all its energy on blooms. Train it as a small tree or leave alone to grow as a very dense multi-stemmed shrub 5 to 8 feet high and 4 to 7 feet wide. Very adaptable and easy, it tolerates drought and many different soil conditions, though moist loam is always preferred. Zones 5-8.
