Flourishes in heat, doesn't mind dry soil, and spreads like crazy!

This mix of scarlet, yellow, and fuchsia blooms has to be grown to be believed!
No more searching for expensive plants -- the first-ever purslane from seed is here at last! Now you can begin your summer garden indoors and be ready to set out seedlings as soon as the soil warms up in spring, for a rich parade of hot tropical color and quick-spreading groundcover beauty that continues for months!

Toucan is a brilliantly-colored purslane, and Hot Mix contains three of its brightest and best colors: radiant scarlet, sunny yellow, and screamin' fuchsia! They top small, succulent-like foliage that reaches just 3 to 4 inches high but spreads more than a foot in no time. And they remain open from early morning until late afternoon, jazzing up any sun-soaked setting from the garden floor to your best containers.

Purslane thrives in heat, prefers its soil on the dry side (once established in the garden), and is ready to spread almost from the day you transplant it. Let it spill over the sides of hanging baskets and windowboxes, fill in around flowering annuals in the sunny bed, or cover bare dry garden spots beautifully. The flowers continue all summer, and the handsome foliage remains until hard frost. Easy, quick, and carefree, this is the tropical flair your garden has been looking for! Pkt is 20 multi-pelleted seeds.

For hot and dry areas, this is the best.
Tom the Gardener from MS wrote (April 07, 2012):
This plant has very tiny seeds which remind me of petunia seeds, but they sprout easily and grow vigorously to good sized plants in just 4-5 weeks. They have a viney habit that spreads quickly and blooms profusely. They tolerate heat and drought extremely well here is Mississippi. They remind me a lot of portulaca, but larger and more vigorous and fast growing. They are the greatest for that hard to water spot or slope. They are not frost tolerant, as the first frost kills them dead, kind of like tomatoes. But they are great for the summer.
