Wow! What a neat product to take part in. I was blown away by how many harvests I got out of the one little log. Loaded with DELICIOUS Shiitakes.
Lots and lots of mushrooms

I bought this and followed the instructions and had mushrooms within the week. The first harvest wasn't so great, probably a 1/2 lb. The instructions that came in the box said to soak it for 1hr, however the log dried out after about 2 weeks and it quit growing mushrooms. I harvested everything available and re-soaked it in rain water for almost 24 hours. The second time around I have mushrooms growing like crazy from all sides, the top and they are even peeking out of the bottom of the log! It has already earned it's money as the organic Shitakes are close to $10/lb at my local food store. If you get mold (green or black) wipe it off with a paper towel and some vinegar. The white fuzzy stuff you will see growing on the surface of the log is good, it is NOT mold and should be left alone.
Even better than we hoped!

I bought these as a gift to my husband who has missed our vegetable garden since the first frost hit. We hoped to have enough mushrooms to eat a few nights a week. Within four days of activating the log we had gorgeous and delicious shitakes. Omelets, stews, and soups never tasted so good! These mushrooms are even delicious raw. It is also a savings since organic shitakes cost $12.95 a pound in the store. This kit more than pays for itself.
