Stipa Sirocco
This long-lived perennial naturalizes happily in sun and well-drained soil.
Sirocco is the only pink ornamental grass available from seed, saving you money and starting easily from our multi-seed pellets. This lovely arching grass forms a neat, fountainous mound 10 to 15 inches high and 22 to 24 inches wide, with long, slender foliage that trembles pleasantly in the breeze, adding motion and soft texture to the garden or patio. Between summer and fall. feathery but unexciting plumes arise; snip them away unless you want the plant to naturalize (in which case you should let the plumes dry out completely and release their seeds in autumn).
And when the cooler temperatures of fall arrive, the green foliage turns pastel shades of blush, pink, cream, and copper, remaining colorful until the hard frosts of winter dry it to golden-tan. Even after it dries out, the plant will remain upright in silhouette for a long time in winter, adding a distinctively different look to the garden or container. Trim it back in late winter and prepare for another year of glory! Zones 6-9. Pkt is 10 multi-pelleted seeds.
