How to Grow Brussel Sprouts: Transplanting:
- Best grown as a fall crop and planted out 4 months before first frost.
- Sow indoors, 6-8 weeks before planting out, at a temperature of 70-75° and at a depth of 4 times the size of the seeds.
- Expect germination in 10-14 days.
- Seeds can also be sown outdoors in early spring while the soil is still cool.
- Alternatively, sow seed outdoors 4 months before first frost and at the same depth as above.
- In Zone 8 and warmer, sow in early fall for a winter crop
- It is 90-120 days from sowing to harvesting.

Site in full sun in a rich, moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Additional Care:
. Feed plants with a low nitrogen fertilizer. Do so when first planting out, when plants are 6-8 inches tall, 12-15 inches tall, and again when the sprouts form. Keep well watered and mulch them to keep the ground cool and moist. Very frost tolerant. As sprouts begin to touch, remove the lower leaves. To speed up a late crop, remove the terminal tips.
Appearance and Use:
Grown for the edible buds that are eaten fresh or are preserved by freezing. The plants grow 2-3 feet tall and as wide. They produce 1-2 inch, cabbage-like buds at each leaf axil. Each stalk produces 30-60 buds in late fall and winter. Harvest the buds from the bottom of the plant up, as they mature, and when they easily pull away from the stalk.
