Boasting blooms the size of salad plates, Venus® introduces an entirely new -- and perhaps never to be rivalled! -- look in Dogwoods. A cross of two species, this amazing little tree dazzles not only with huge ruffled blooms, but also with brilliant red fall foliage and handsome fruits that birds adore.

A cross of the Pacific Dogwood (C. nuttallii) and the Korean (C. kousa), Venus® somehow outdoes them both with ruffled, 4-petaled ivory blooms fully 6 inches wide! Tightly held, the blooms last for up to 3 weeks, absolutely covering this petite tree in late spring and early summer. It's as though a thousand wedding bouquets had been dropped among Venus's® branches!

And after the flowers pass, bright red berries arise to replace them. These fruits persist into fall, attracting songbirds to the garden. As the weather grows colder, the green leaves turn crimson and scarlet, then fall to the ground in a radiant pool of autumn beauty.

Venus® reaches just 15 to 20 feet high and wide, thriving in full sun to partial shade. Give it rich, moist, acidic soil topped with a 4-inch layer of mulch to keep the roots cool and evenly moist all season. Once established, it is quite tolerant of drought, and doesn't mind hot, humid summers. Perfect for the south, midwest, and other regions!

Venus® is the winner of numerous awards, such as "Most Successful New Plant" at PLANTARIUM 2007 and "Best Novelty of the Year" at IPM 2008. Part of its success is due to its compact habit, slow growth, and slightly wider top, creating a subtle canopy effect. This Dogwood has also proven quite free of pests and diseases, showing special resistance to powdery mildew and anthracnose.

Hardy to zone 5 with no winter die-back, this is a Dogwood that can be enjoyed farther north than many others. What a treat! Begin growing it this season!
