Watering Blanket
It's part mulch, part irrigation system!
This is an 8-foot by 10-foot covering made of a fabric called Rainweave. Basically, it admits air and a certain amount of rain, but acts as a mulch for the soil, preventing the growth of weeds, the loss of moisture, and the erosion of nutrients. But that's not all. It's also fittted with an irrigation system -- yes, really! -- that drips water onto your plants' root systems, conserving every drop. You won't believe how much water you've been losing to evaporation and runoff until you try the Watering Blanket!
So you just lay it down, cutting out holes for your plants, and attach it to a hose (or plant food solution at feeding time). You can cover it with more mulch if you want it to really last -- it should be good for more than 20 years if this is done. But if you expose it to the elements, it's still got 5 years of good use in it. And what could be easier to use? Cut it to fit your plants and you're done! You've got to try it to really believe it. Take a chance, and you'll see the savings in your first month's water bill, not to mention in your happy, weed-free plants!
