A rewarding evergreen shrub.

A semi-dwarf habit that's slightly wider than it is tall.
'Yaku Sunrise' has a little something for everyone. The mid- to late-spring blossoms are rose-colored with darker shades on the petals' edges and reverse. They arise in ball-shaped trusses of 10 flowers. The color of these blooms will complement any others nearby. And for those seeking a shrub that stays attractive even through the duller days of winter, this Rhododendron offers a lovely habit of evergreen foliage. The leaves are a deep green and slightly recurved, with a thick indumentum (a suede-like covering on the underside of each leaf).

In this age of growing cities and decreased personal space, many gardeners are seeking plants that will fit into their more compact landscapes. 'Yaku Sunrise' will fit in nicely in most spaces. It reaches a height of only 3 to 4 feet, and is a little wider than it is tall.

Provide this shrub with organically rich, well-drained, acidic soil in partial sun/shade. Afternoon protection from the sun is best. Zones 6-9.
