When you dig them up they're pink, but when you cook them, they turn scarlet

Days to Maturity: 75

Full of cancer-fighting lycopene, these carrots look as good as they taste. Super-nutritious and made for cooking, Atomic Red is the most exciting carrot of the season.

These long, tapered roots reach 8 to 11 inches long. When you unearth them, they are a disappointingly dull shade of pink. But don't despair. Just clean them off and either bake, steam, or boil them. Immediately they turn brilliant scarlet, improving not only in appearance but also in flavor and nutritional flavor.

Atomic Red redefines plate appeal. So whether you have reluctant vegetable eaters, want some extra lycopene, or simply enjoy new things, give this great new variety a try.

Interesting and fun

This shopper rated the product 4 out of 5 stars

While these do not produce as many as the scarlet nantes orange, they are fun. They taste better cooked than raw. They have a slight bitter taste, but are better for you, so there's a trade off.

Survived all winter, even when the temps dropped down in the teens a couple of nights. We are zone 9, though.
