How different, in so many wonderful ways, miniature roses of today are from those of the past! Fine breeding has taken these compact shrubs out of the hot-house and placed them squarely in the garden, with the ability to tackle cold stormy winters and sultry humid summers with equal aplomb! Busy Bee™ is a prime example of the modern mini: petite only in stature, it's ready to take on the rigors of garden life or live for many, many years in outdoor containers!

Each of these 1¼-inch flowers is a tiny masterpiece, boasting up to 40 petals and sporting bright hues of apricot, orange, coral, and gold. They unfurl gradually from high centers, the petal edges reflexed in the classic hybrid tea style. Perfect for nosegays and boutonnieres as well as garden enjoyment, they arise in great waves all summer long, opening from classic pointed ovoid buds.

And Busy Bee™ offers much more than exquisite blooms. The branching is good on this shrub, though it reaches only 18 to 22 inches high and up to 24 inches wide. The foliage is dark green, glossy, and leathery, holding up well in temperature extremes and rough weather. Unlike older varieties, which tend to melt out in August and look a bit bare, Busy Bee™ is as well clothed at summer's end as it was in May!

And the secret to all this beauty? Good breeding, of course! Noted rosarian F. Harmon Saville introduced Busy Bee™ in 1994 from crosses of Sequoia Gold™ x Sparks.™ It made its US debut in 2001 and hasn't looked back since, becoming a beloved favorite in a huge range of climates.

Busy Bee™ is hardy through zone 5 in the north, yet tolerates the extreme heat and humidity of the south and west. You will find it adaptable, vigorous, and very dependable. Add it to your rose garden, perennial border, shrub display, or container garden this season -- and don't forget an extra just for cutting those amazing blooms! Zones 5-9.
