Crepe Myrtles at Park
One of the most colorful and beautiful trees for spring blooms, Crepe Myrtles offer long, elegant bottlebrush blooms arising from smooth, glossy trunks.Often their foliage turns burgundy or bronze in autumn, and the blooms give way to showy berries that dry right on the tree, to the delight of songbirds in the garden. Crepe Myrtles need no pruning, but may be cut back to short stems for a more uniform look in a mass planting.

Lavender Crepe Myrtle
Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei 'Muskogee.' These fast-growing ornamentals are ideal for patio containers, buffer plantings, and street trees. Long lasting lavender blooms start in June, and the distinctive exfoliating bark is gray to medium brown. Plant in groups of three or along a driveway 8 to 10 feet apart. In northern climates, plant in containers and bring into the garage for the winter. Z 6-10.
White Crepe Myrtle>
Lagerstroemia indica 'Sarah's Favorite'.
White Crepe Myrtles are the most hardy crepes, and can be seen lining the streets of southern cities such as Charleston and Atlanta. Prolific, long-lasting, white blooms, cinnamon exfoliating bark, and excellent red-orange fall color make this an ideal choice for the landscape.
Plant in groups 10 to 12 feet apart. Z 6-10.
Pink Crepe Myrtle>
Lagerstroemia indica 'Sioux.' Pink Crepe Myrtle has intense pink flowers and great foliage that turns maroon in the fall. This crepe has won numerous awards and is a fantastic landscape specimen or great in a container. Plant 8 to 10 feet apart. Z 7-10.
Red Crepe Myrtle>
Lagerstroemia indica 'Dynamite'. Considered one of the very best Crepe Myrtles, this fire-engine red will stop you in your tracks. Its dark green foliage creates an interesting contrast with the intense red blooms. Plant in groups of 3 or more or in containers for the deck or patio. Z 6-10.
Magenta Crepe Myrtle>
Lagerstroemia indica 'Tonto'. Reaching only 10 feet in height, this compact Crepe Myrtle is valuable for smaller gardens. Intense magenta red flowers cover the tree in the summer, and the creamy bark shines during winter. Plant 5 feet apart near a patio, or grow in containers in northern climates with winter protection. Z 7-10.
Watermelon Crepe Myrtle>
Lagerstroemia indica 'Tuscarora'. Tuscarora blooms later than many summer blooming annuals and perennials, adding color to a dull late-summer season in the landscape. Plant in containers for the patio or in groups 8 to 10 feet apart. Z 7-10.
