Still the finest garden zinnia, Dreamland has been wowing gardeners with early, big, long-lasting blooms on compact plants for several years nowand the applause just keeps getting louder. Enjoy the elegance of these 4-inch dahlia-form flowers of bright yellow. They arise atop neat, robust 10- to 12-inch plants just 6 weeks after sowing, and by 8 weeks have formed a solid carpet of color that is really amazing in a large planting.
Very rugged and weather tolerant, this sun-lover renews itself quickly after storms, thanks to waxy petals and a very tough, vigorous plant constitution. The luminous hues in this series blend harmoniously in the garden, and the flowers stay fresh for well over a week in the vase. Stunning.
Zinnias are one of the easiest annuals to grow, and attract butterflies to the garden. They are outstanding in beds, borders, and containers, and are the perfect cut flowerthe more you cut, the more you get. They thrive in the sun and heat of summer, and ask only well-drained soil. Their biggest enemy is mildew, so water them with a soaker hose or other ground-based spray to minimize wetting the foliageor water them early in the day, so that the leaves dry off before nightfall. When cutting the blooms for the vase, trim off all the foliage; unlike the long-lasting blooms, it does not age well. Direct sow or start ahead indoors.

When packing our seeds, the majority are actually done by hand (with extreme care!), and we often over-pack them, so you're receiving more than the stated quantity.
The Park Seed Gold Standard
Heirloom Seeds are open-pollinated -- they are not hybrids. You can gather and save heirloom seed from year to year and they will grow true to type every year, so they can be passed down through generations. To be considered an heirloom, a variety would have to be at least from the 1940's and 3 generations old (many varieties are much older -- some 100 years or more!).
Hybrid seed are the product of cross-pollination between 2 different parent plants, resulting in a new plant/seed that is different from the parents. Unlike Heirloom seed, hybrid seed need to be re-purchased new every year (and not saved). They usually will not grow true to type if you save them, but will revert to one of the parents they were crossed with and most likely look/taste different in some way.
