Description

Upgrade to the E3 Easy Wave® Series | Earlier blooming | More efficient habit

Days to Maturity: 91

An improved variety, E3 Easy Wave® Blue Petunia is a tender perennial (Zones 10-11), often grown as an annual, offering spring through summer interest. Earlier blooming than typical Easy Wave® petunias, this E3 "Extra Easy Wave" practically perfect petunia sets masses of showy, fragrant, blue blossoms non-stop over a longer season, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to the garden.

Full and lush, E3 Easy Wave® Blue Petunia has an efficient, tight, dome shape; a controlled, spreading habit; and manageable vigor. The plant gracefully cascades from containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets but also makes great edging or groundcover in beds and borders. Planted alongside perennials and vegetables, petunias repel asparagus beetles, leafhoppers, a range of aphids, tomato worms, and many other pests.

Extremely easy to grow, E3 Easy Wave® Blue Petunia prefers full sun to light shade and average, medium moist, well-draining soil. It tolerates poor soils, heat, and cold and is deer resistant and virtually disease and pest free. Although petunias are low maintenance, pinching off the tops of established plants results in a bushier habit and a heavier bloom, and deadheading regularly encourages and prolongs flowering. Cutting back plants that have declined in summer heat promotes a later bloom as temperatures cool.

Direct sow petunia seed after the last frost and as soon as the soil is warm in spring or start seeds indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost and transplant after all threat of frost has passed.

If you plan to start your seeds indoors, be sure to check out our Bio Dome Seed Starter Kit. With the Bio Dome, you can control the temperature, light, and soil mix to ensure your seeds become strong for transplant.

This seed comes as a pellet. Pelleted seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.
