Description

Golden stems and flavorful green leaves

Days to Maturity: 30 to 60

El Dorado is a wonderful golden-orange-stemmed variety, the bright color extending along the veins in every dark green leaf. Very slow to bolt, frost tolerant, and vigorous, it's a great choice for plate appeal as well as big, dependable yields.

El Dorado sports mature leaves of deep green, beautifully savoyed, glossy, and reaching 16 inches high on strong stems. Boasting a delicious crunch that improves with a touch of frost, this chard is delectable whether lightly steamed or integrated into soups and stews.

If you like baby veggies, El Dorado is an excellent choice for tender greens. Ready to harvest just a month after planting, the greens have a milder flavor and very succulent consistency and are delicious.

Rely on El Dorado for big yields in cold weather or warm. It's an all-around top performer, and you'll love the flavor as well as the look of this beauty. To grow, sow seeds 1 inch deep in rows 16 inches apart, in soil that has been enriched with compost. Full to half sun is best. When the seedlings are 1 inch high, thin them to a foot apart. Cut leaves as they mature; one plant will last all season if allowed to regrow after individual leaves are cut. Very easy.
