Description

Lovely Fragrance and Rare Blue Color

The iridescent steal blue flowers on Eryngium 'Big Blue', a clumping perennial, pop in the garden with unique color and lovely fragrance, attracting bees and butterflies. They are stunning in a floral arrangement, fresh or dried. The blue color of the spiky, 4-inch flowers is rare in the garden, and the sunnier the spot, the bluer the flower. Pick you're planting spot carefully because it puts down deep roots and doesn't move well.

Eryngium 'Big Blue', also known as a sea holly, likes it sunny and dry, and once established, it is drought tolerant; so it's a good choice for a rock garden or xeriscape. It's also salt tolerant, so it's a good choice for coastal gardens, too. Eryngium 'Big Blue' works nicely in mixed beds and in cottage and prairie gardens. To add the most pizzazz, group or mass.

This is a tough plant, both deer and rabbit resistant, that requires little care, but it should be cut back in late summer after flowering has finished.
