Sweet notes of hyacinth, honey, and rose

All-America Selections (AAS) Winner 2017

Only one thing could make a spreading petunia even more appealing, and this one's got it: FRAGRANCE! Notes of sweet honey, roses, and hyacinths combine to create the scent of these indigo blooms, which arise by the thousand over a season that spans many months. The fragrance is noticeable all day, but really intensifies in late afternoon and evening, making Evening Scentsation™ Petunia the perfect choice for balcony, deck, patio, or any part of the garden where guests gather for entertaining.

Evening Scentsation™ Petunia has already won an All-America Selection Award, and we expect more honors to follow. This is a breeding breakthrough extraordinaire, a plant with all the merits of, say, the Wave® series, plus a sweet scent and a really deep, intense flower color. What could be better.

The blooms begin opening in late spring in most climates, continue through summer, and go right up to frost. They average 2½ inches wide and are a siren call to all butterflies in the neighborhood. Evening Scentsation™ Petunia is a multiflora, very tolerant of rain and excessive sun and heat. The habit is both mounding and spreading, reaching 5 to 8 inches high and trailing nearly 36 inches long from baskets and planters. Or, if set into the garden about a foot apart, the plants will fill in available space with a nicely mounded size and more blooms than you can imagine.

Evening Scentsation™ Petunia is easy to grow from our convenient pelleted seed, which should be started indoors 5 to 6 weeks before transplant to the early-spring garden. Set out plants when all danger of frost is past. The plant will begin blooming 10 to 12 weeks after sowing. It is magnificent in hanging baskets, window boxes, and large containers, as well as an unrivaled ground cover for bright sun. Stupendous.

This seed comes as a "pellet". "Pelleted" seeds are small seeds that have been clay-coated to make them larger and more uniform in size and shape, making them easier to handle when planting.

Gorgeous window box

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

All the seeds germinated and grew well. I packed them all into one long window box and the results are stunning. The neighbors have even stopped by to ask where I got them.

Great germination, form and color. Lots of sturdy, early blossoms.

Bought 3 packets of 10 seeds (each had an extra seed or two). I have 32 well shaped, well branched, blossom-covered plants with no pinching at all. Has a better smell than most petunias (I find most petunias cloying). I germinated under lights indoors, moved seedling flat inside my plastic walk-in greenhouse during very cool nights and almost icy spring rains and put them out for full sun and breeze as spring progressed. Began letting them deal with direct rains and strong breezes as I continued potting-up to larger and larger pots as early and mid spring progressed. (Now in 10 inch mum containers and some large ceramic pots. First day of summer still two days way. They took a super-deluge and vicious winds in strong passing storm yesterday and look like nothing happened today. My neighbor's petunia basket looks ratty and beaten and the stuff at the stores looks unsellable. I'm happy with these. First time I grew petunia from seed.

Easy to grow easy to enjoy!

This shopper rated the product 5 out of 5 stars

I've never grown petunias from seeds but was looking for a fragrant flower that would help mask the smell of smoking neighbors. I ordered 3 packs of seeds. Two of them were started in seed starting soil inside. All seeds received germinated and made it to transplant! The third pack I was out of seed starting soil and put them in garden soil mix also inside. Only 6 of the 10 sprouted but I'm sure it was due to the inappropriate soil. Squirrels did a horrible number on my seedlings and transplants this year especially the petunias but I have about 12 plants from the 30 seeds ordered right now. I was expecting a stronger fragrance but it's still pleasant and wafts thorough the air as I get more and more blooms on the plants. The fragrance is not enough to cover smoking neighbors but luckily they've found a new place to smoke. I would definitely buy again for the beautiful color, light fragrance, and easy to sow/grow seeds!
