Thuja 'Green Giant' is one of the fastest growing of all Conifers. This very rare Western Red Cedar will put on 3 to 5 feet of growth per year. An excellent evergreen privacy screen or windbreak, it's also tremendously dense, weather-resistant, repellent to deer, and marvelously fragrant! This is the tree you want outlining your property, shielding you from noise, neighbors, or rough wind!

Elegant and uniform, the conical habit of 'Green Giant' needs no shearing or pruning, and is cloaked in dense, dark, evergreen foliage clear to the ground. Of course, you can also shear the foliage into any desired shape, and keep the plant trimmed to just the size you want.

And this is a very easy plant to grow, tolerating almost any soil type and resistant to damage from ice and snow, as well as deer and most other pests. 'Green Giant' is able to withstand drought well, and once established in your yard is very resistant to heat, humidity, and cold.

The most vigorous growth will be in full sun and enriched soil with plenty of water and fertilizer, especially the first few years. 'Green Giant' can also tolerate a bit of shade. Expect it to eventually reach 30 to 50 feet tall, 10 to 12 feet wide. Zones 5-9, plus 10 on the West Coast.

Privacy and protection
Grace Temple from KY wrote on October 03, 2019

With the purchase of the six Thujas, it brings our total to 41 across the back and up one side of our three acre property. When we were first threatened with a development behind our property we began planting Green Giants, themajority from park. The beautiful trees are now about 8-10 years old and 25-30 feet tall they form a dense hedge and are beautiful. Our only complaint is we are now having to spray them yearly to kill the bag worms that have started infesting. I keep thinking I will send you a picture. They are spectacular! We first saw Thuja Green Giants planted along the highways in north and South Carolina on trips there. The encroaching development is coming to fruition and our latest purchase will add more visual protection. You don’t have to print this. We just want you to know we love our trees. We have lots of deer , they don’t bother them and some high winds and snow and they stand up to that also.

Excellent So Far

I purchased four of these trees that arrived alive and perfectly packaged. The price was quite reasonable for the small trees. They were planted at rear of a retaining wall at the back end of a new built in swimming pool along with some other flowers and plants. They have only been planted for a few weeks, but I'm hopeful they will provide some privacy and are maintenance free when they are grown.

A Proven Winner

I bought 6 of these several years ago to act as a screen from a neighbor's house in my backyard. They are vigorous growers with a regular conical shape and are already 25 feet high. They are also very easy to care for and have gotten no diseases. I like them so much that I am thinking of getting a few more as a partial screen for the front yard. Of course, the birds love them too. Highly recommended!
