A classic wetland plant, Juncus ColorGrass® 'Blue Arrows' Rush is an ornamental rhizomatous perennial grass, grown for its attractive tufts of stiff blue-green leaves that add a striking vertical element to landscapes with wonderful texture and beautiful color. The leaves initially emerge lime green but take on a bluish hue throughout the season. The foliage typically dies back during winter in cold climates but reemerges in spring.
A Juncus inflexus variety, commonly called rush, hard rush, or blue rush, 'Blue Arrows' has an upright habit. It slowly spreads by rhizomes and may self-seed in optimal conditions. Rush is a nice specimen plant in the garden or "thriller" in a mixed container, but it's shown to best effect when grouped or massed in beds or borders in the garden or in naturalized areas around ponds or water features. It makes a great indoor plant too.
A cold hardy, low-maintenance plant, rush grows best in a sunny to partially shady location with consistently moist to wet soil. It is heat tolerant in a wide range of environments and drought tolerant once established.
