Now you can sow this gourmet baby carrot in minutes, creating straight rows, elegant designs for a parterre, or even nice full containers for the patio. Little Finger is a popular baby variety for its sweetness and crunch, and you will love having the convenience of seed tapes in which to grow it.
Little Finger Carrot reaches 4 inches or so long. Unlike the "baby" carrots found in supermarkets, which are often shaved-down versions of full-size varieties, Little Finger is a true mini, and looks great on the plate when cooked with its long, elegant greens. This root doesn't taper, so you get a good bite right to the endand it makes it easier to slice, too.
If you're new to seed tape, welcome to the convenience and added protection of this nifty product. You literally lay the seed tape down on top of the soil where you want the plants to grow, cutting it to fit the space and arranging it in any pattern you like. Then rake or sprinkle about a half inch of soil on top of the seed tapes and water them in well. That's itin a few weeks you'll see evenly-spaced, healthy green shoots that need no thinning.
We like seed tapes not only for their ease of sowing, but also because they offer added protection for seeds. How many times have you planted a neat, evenly-spaced row of seeds, only to have a rainstorm (or even the sprinkler) wash all the seeds to one end, so the sprouts emerge all twisted together and have to be thinned drastically. Or lost half your crop to birds before the seeds even had a chance to sprout. With seed tape, the tissue protects the seeds, holding them in place until they have a chance to produce shoots and roots. You get much more value from every length of seed tape than from planting loose seeds. Have fun finding new ways to sow and grow this sweet, crunchy treat.
