Lofty™ White Blush Saxifrage is an evergreen perennial offering year-round interest, blooming heavily in early spring. The lovely little flowers are large for a saxifrage and very uniform. Borne on short stems, the up-facing, bright white flowers have a blush halo around a greenish yellow throat and are highly attractive to butterflies.
A Saxifraga x arendsii variety, commonly called saxifrages or rockfoils, Lofty White Blush Saxifrage has a compact, mounding habit. It grows vigorously and spreads over time, forming dense, moss-like mats of tiny emerald green leaves in attractive rosettes.
A highly popular rock garden plant, saxifrage is shown to best effect when mass planted as ground cover, which will tumble down slopes, ramble over rocks, and cascade over walls. But it also works well grouped in border fronts or small containers.
Cold hardy and low maintenance, Lofty White Blush Saxifrage grows best in locations with dappled to part shade and organically rich, humusy, moist soil that is gritty and well-draining. In cool climates, it tolerates full sun if provided adequate water; but it will suffer in hot, humid conditions, like in the Deep South. Saxifrage is typically disease free and deer and rabbit resistant.
