Phlox 'Woodlander Lilac', a creeping phlox, is a showy evergreen perennial offering early spring interest. A new breakthrough in perennial phlox breeding, the innovative Phlox Woodlander Series are interspecific hybrids that flower profusely and continuously for weeks. The plant sets enormous clusters of extra big blooms (bigger than typical subulata species), creating a bright, thick carpet of 5-petaled flowers in varying shades of lilac. Bees and butterflies adore them.
Phlox 'Woodlander Lilac' is an herbaceous plant with a mounded and spreading habit of linear to awl-shaped leaves that fills in empty areas quickly. Shown to best effect when massed or grouped, the plants are typically used as groundcover in mixed beds and borders, especially nice as understory plants. Individual plants also make stunning accents.
Cold hardy and incredibly versatile, Phlox 'Woodlander Lilac' is adaptable to both full sun and partial shade. It requires a period of vernalization (a cold period) for best and earliest flowering. The plant is deer resistant
