'Wiethorst' is a handsome dwarf version of Schwerin's pine, a hybrid of Eastern White pine (P. strobus) and Himalayan pine (P. wallichiana). This compact, upright tree features fluffy light-green needles displaying silvery undersides for added appeal. The clusters of long, bluish-green needles on this outstanding broad, pyramidal pine are so delicate even the slightest wind moves them. This spectacular cultivar produces an abundance of oversized sappy cones at an early age. 'Wiethorst' is expected to grow about 6 to 8 inches annually and reach 6 feet in about 10 years of inhabiting the landscape. Plants can be pruned to stay beautifully tight and soft; left unpruned, plants become unique informal uprights with pillowy branches. Both forms will impress your garden admirers with beautiful foliage interest.
