Description / 'Yukon Gold' Poppy Seeds

'Yukon Gold' Poppy is a California poppy with brilliant blooms that feature petals of bright golden shades and centers of deeper orange hues. The slightly ruffled double blooms sit above lovely blue-green feathery foliage. This poppy variety is an easy to grow direct sow annual that will bloom from spring through summer. 'Yukon Gold' Poppy is spectacular when sown in drifts in sunny borders, but can also be used to fill gaps in the border and in mixed plantings with other annuals.

The semi double blooms catch the eye from a distance and are real beauties to view up close, individual flowers seem to last a good bit longer than other California poppies and keep right on going to hard frost, bees love them as well!

Started these from seeds indoors. Had great success. Such a beautiful bright yellow. They started blooming in July and I was surprised to see that I still had buds and flowers late in September. I would recommend these.

I live in northern Ontario. Thought I would try growing these. I started them indoors in early April and moved them outside in June. They are a really bright yellow with a amber middle. The flowers are about 2 inches. I just love them. I paired them with blue coloured widows tears. I wished the flowers lasted longer but they also have lots of buds which bloomed, so it was never without flowers. I definitely will be growing these again. I’m also looking at more areas to plant them in next year.

Love the colour of the blooms and the look of the plant itself. It unfolds like a rose and it's beautiful when open, I don't have enough of them ! Really hope it reseeds for next year.
